All of these performances were initially captured between 2015 and 2019. They've all recently been rendered, mastered, and assembled together for this album.

My process for creating these is simple. I first experiment on the piano until I find an idea, be it a melodic phrase or a chord progression. I play through it a few times until it forms a consistent idea in my mind, in my hands, and then I record one or more variations. Not every take turns out, but included here are the versions I like.

The Number of the track represents the idea or theme the performance is based on, and the Variation is the take. I usually do all of the takes on the same theme at the same sitting.

Most performances have some light editing done to them, mostly adjusting velocities or removing notes that I find too distracting, but many "flawed" moments stay intact; I feel they help reinforce the humanity of the performance.

Naming the pieces is often the most difficult aspect of the project for me. There's nothing in these names that are consciously present for me when I'm playing. Part of me would rather just keep the pieces titled with their numbers only. But I'll admit that after spending time with the music, the numbers are a bit too sparse and cold, and frankly too inconvenient when trying to reference a piece.
